ARE YOU READY FOR FALL FUN?

•    HOPE AREA CHAMBER FARMER'S MARKET     •

Our corner of Bartholomew County prides itself on its agricultural roots. That's why we offer a Farmer's Market every Tuesday from 3:00 p.m - 6:00 p.m on the Hope Town Square. There is no cost to be a vendor! Simply call (812) 546-HOPE to register... then arrive on Tuesday, set up your booth (or sell directly from your truck bed), and let the sales begin. Now a message for area residents:  Help us "grow" this great community asset by supporting the Farmer's Market. Stop by and pick up a few items -- straight from the garden to your table! It's harvest time in Hope!

•    CLASSIC CAR CRUISE-IN ON THE TOWN SQUARE     •

Don't miss "Fun Fridays in Hope". Barring rain, the Hope Area Welcome Center and Chamber is partnering with the Community Center of Hope and The Hope Star-Journal to make Friday evenings THE night to visit the historic Hope Town Square. You'll want to bring lawn chairs (plus family, friends, and neigbors) to enjoy our "Classic Car Cruise-In" each and every Friday evening throughout the summer.  Starting around 5:00 p.m., classic cars from throughout the area start cruising the square and parking along Harrison Street near the bandstand. Select Friday nights include live entertainment on the bandstand -- disc jockeys or live bands. Plus you can gain bragging rights for the week by participating in one of our ever-popular Corn Toss Tournaments held on the south side of the bandstand! NOTE: Our September 10 Cruise-In will include the ever-popular Possum Glory Train Band playing their infused brand of Bluegrass music. The date will also bring the kick-off for Hope's United Way campaign with free hot dogs and chips while supplies last. Plus, their will be face-painting for the kids. Don't miss it!   •    OLD-FASHIONED INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION     •

•    ARTS & ANTIQUES FAIR ON THE TOWN SQUARE     •

The newest addition to the Hope events schedule is sure to be a big hit! Hope prides itself on our heritage. Plus, we have one of the most active Art Guilds in the area. What could be a better fit than an Arts & Antiques Fair on the Hope Town Square! Set for SUNDAY, AUGUST 29, this event is designed to bring art dealers, artists, craftsmen, and antique dealers to the heart of Hope for a one day event (9am - 4pm). Booth space is free, but you must pre-register. Call 546-HOPE to start the process. Only artisans and dealers can participate. All arts and crafts must be original work... this is not a flea market event.

HOW TO GET HERE:  Hope is located in northeast Bartholomew County along State Road 9 within the triangle of Shelbyville, Columbus, and Greensburg. If traveling from the north or south on Interstate 65, take the Edinburgh EXIT and head east on State Road 252 to State Road 9. Head south on State Road 9 to reach Hope. From the east or west (Columbus and Greensburg), take State Road 46 to State Road 9. Head north on State Road 9 to reach Hope.

•    23RD ANNUAL HOPE RIDE     •

The annual Hope Ride event draws cycling enthusiasts from all over the Midwest and even from abroad! Last year, nearly 2,000 riders participated in the ever-popular "bike ride through the countryside". The event is a fundraiser for the Hope Area Food Bank. Hundreds of thousands of dollars has been raised for the Food Bank over the past decades as a direct result of this event. Organizer Paul Ashbrook is planning to take the event one step further by "going paperless". Participants must register online or visit the Hope Welcome Center to sign-up. Caring for the environment by "going paperless" is a good fit for this healthy, fun, family-friendly fundraiser. Several routes of various lengths are offered -- pick a length to match your ability! Food, live bands, a petting zoo, and more round out this Hope tradition. Visit www.hoperide.org for more information.

• 43rd ANNUAL HERITAGE DAYS •

This is the Grandfather of all events in Hope. The annual Hope Heritage Days festival has grown to become not only Bartholomew County's largest multi-day festival, but one of the largest in south-central Indiana! Heritage Days shines a light on our past and offers a glimpse at our future. Organizers meet year-round to ensure the festival not only meets expectations, but surpasses them. Events include: Southern Gospel Concert, Food Booths, Craft Booths, Parade, Cross Country Meet, Exhibitions, Pioneer Village, Live Bands, and MUCH MORE! You can visit Heritage Days online at their Facebook page: Hope Heritage Days. A new website is coming soon. Call (812) 546-HOPE for more information. The event is brought to you by the Festival and Bandstand Division of Heritage of Hope, Inc.

•    OLD-FASHIONED INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION     •

If you didn't make it to this year's July 2 event, you have most likely been hearing from friends and neighbors about the great time you missed. Approximately 2,000 people participated in this year's Celebration. To view the  photo gallery from the event, Click Here!

• ANNUAL MEETING PHOTO GALLERY •

The Hope Area Chamber of Commerce held its annual meeting and banquet in Auntie Amiee's Tea Room at Strawberry Fields Mercantile on June 24. The dozens in attendance enjoyed a delicious dinner, networking time, and a fact-filled presentation titled An Influence Called Indiana by Robert Garton.  Chamber officers announced the opening of the new Hope Area Welcome Center and Chamber office on the Hope Town Square. Plans for the Hope Area's new tourism initiatives were also highlighted. The meeting started with a public hearing for planned improvements to one segment of Hope's utility services. The meeting closed with the elction of officers and directors. We would like to thank all who attended, and offer a special note of thanks to Robert Garton for serving as our guest speaker. Photos of the event are shown below.
